So yesterday, I went to the annual Oktoberfest put on by the German-American Society out in El Cajon. I went all by myself because I knew most of my friends would not be able to handle it...but since I am a German nerd, I totally dorked out and had a blast. After driving 20 mins out to East County in the super hot weather and paying 3 bucks to get in, I finally found my way to the Bier stand. I paid $5 for a cup of Warsteiner which is pretty awesome since that was my beer of choice the first time I went to Germany back in 1997.....I also got a wiener on a roll with sauerkraut. I followed that up with potato pancakes with applesauce...and of course another 5 dollar beer.
Unfortunately, the pretzel stand was closed (wah wah) and this made me pretty upset since getting a pretzel was one of my big motivations for driving way the hell out to El Cajon on a hot Sunday afternoon...oh well. All in all, I had a great time. Eating yummy food, watchin old German people dance to really super cheesy German schlager musik (so freakin cute) and little kids running around in durndels and lederhösen dancing to the chicken dance. Good times for sure!
Speakin of pretzels!! If you love pretzels as much as I do....this is a good read for sure!
